Relational Maintenance. Week of April 9th-15th. D3

One thing that I found interesting in the chapter was the Relational Maintenance on page 149. It talks about the behaviors that people use to keep their relationships at a desirable level. Table 6.2 points out the behaviors and they are positivity, which is being cheerful and positive. Next is openness and that involves being able to disclose personal information. Assurance is to offer reassurance that one is committed to another. Networks are spending time with one another’s family and friends. Task sharing is sharing the workload and taking responsibility. Then comes conflict management which is handling conflict effectively. Lastly is advice sharing/offering which includes giving support and advice to another. All of these behaviors are important and needed for a strong relationship. I would have to agree with each of them. There are also other behaviors that are important too but those do seem to stick out to me when thinking about it. In order for a relationship to be strong, there always need to be good communication among the people and you should treat others the way you want to be treated as well.
