Judgments. Week 5 D1

I do not believe that it is possible to perceive others without judging or categorizing them. I think that everyone judges everyone. It can be intentional because they heard something about them before they met them. Or it can be unintentional. I believe that everyone is guilty of judging other whether they want to or not. When you first meet a person you are going to judge them by their first impression. This can be based off of stereotypes or other things are well like categorizing them. I think that it is more based off of stereotypes even if people don’t want to admit it or not. Stereotypes are always going to be in someone mind and they will perceive others on how they want to. It is also like being a “statistic” If you were to meet a girl, (let’s say a teen mom) you will probably look at her and judge her. You have probably heard of statistics on teen moms and dropping out of school and etc. However not all teen moms are like that. I know plenty of teen moms that have had great lives, they have their lives together and are not a “statistic”. In order for people to make judgments more fair, we should get to know someone first and anything that we may hear about them first, to not have an impact on our own perceptions on them. We need to also not listen to “statistic” and know that not everyone will fall under a certain category that you think they should. Judging other people is just how humans work.  Everyone does it and even if we try not to, we always will. People just have to learn to not let it get in the way of their perceptions and to do it fairly.
